Experience in cases brought on behalf of a survivor of abuse
Successfully claimed on behalf of 2 children who had been sexually abused by their step grand-father. The children had experienced emotional difficulties prior to the abuse and the Defendant had limited means thus involved ensuring that we achieved what was available and satisfying the Court this was appropriate. Successfully claimed on behalf of an adult woman in relation to sexual abuse by her uncle as a child. Claimant only reported the abuse in adulthood and I offered support during the criminal case, which resulted in a conviction and thereafter negotiated settlement as it was apparent the Defendant had limited means but a grandparent was funding the award. I took over a claim for another adult woman who suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her step-father. The criminal trial did not succeed but the Defendant compensated the victim through a civil claim. This involved detailed investigation of means. I have most recently accepted instructions for a child who was assaulted by a member of staff at a nursery school. No convictions were made owing to lack of forensic evidence and the age of the witnesses but Police are satisfied abuse took place.
