Rosalind Coe, counsel for Young, predicts the decision of the House of Lords in the various appeals of Hoare, X & Y, Middlesborough, Young, Suffolk etc.
The Law Lords made their positioni fairly clear on the day of the appeal, but their formal decision is not expected until Christmas, or just after.
The indications are good for Claimants, that the responsibility of the employer for acts of abuse will extend beyond mere assault to acts of negligence, and that the law on time limits will become easier on Claimants in that reliance on Date of Knowledge will not be as scientifically artificial.
