A former monk jailed for administering electric shocks to vulnerable schoolboys failed to overturn his conviction today.
The accusations against Michael Murphy, 74, arose from the time when he was a member of staff at St Ninian’s List D school in Stirlingshire, in the 1960s.
Murphy, then known as Brother Benedict was found guilty of ten assaults on nine different boys – including “torturing” pupils with an electric shock device, force feeding them vomit in the school’s dinner hall and whipping them with knotted boot laces.
