The Christian Brothers religious order is to give €161 million (£146 million) in cash and property in reparation for its role in decades of child abuse in Ireland.
The Brothers said that €34 million in cash would be used to help victims of abuse, whose plight was identified in a government report in May. However, the move was criticised, with one victims’ group describing it as “mere smoke and mirrors”.

i am trying to get information in regards my brothers case. He was placed in the care of the brothers in the late 1950,s when my parents moved to England. He had learning difficulties and they did not believe they could cope in England when they moved during the depression with Edward’s needs. My mother a staunch Catholic, believed in the brothers.
Apart from any other abuse that may have taken place to that innocent, I believe that powerful drugs where used (read in an article as common practice) which led to kidney failure and death.
My brother died in 1970 aged 21 of kidney failure. I knew little of Edward’s plight but wish to understand where he was and his awful experiences. I think he deserves this.
Where would I get this information as I do not know where he lived and died. I do not know where to start.
